Modding Guide
The most exciting thing about Wrestling Revolution 3D’s re-release on PC is that even more of the
game’s files are open to editing! Please study this guide to ensure you do so safely and productively.
It is strongly recommended that you back-up any files or folders before changing them
irrevocably!!!
Transferring Data
Whether you want to back up your own data or share it with someone else, you may be interested to
know that all of your personal progress is saved to the following folder:
C:\Users\???\AppData\Roaming\WR3D\Local Store\#SharedObjects\Game.swf
It is strongly recommended that you do not move the files Options.sol or System.sol as they are of
no benefit to anybody else!
Booking.sol and Career.sol contain your progress in the respective career mode.
Characters.sol and Rosters.sol contain the CURRENT status of all the characters and promotions.
It is conceivable that you may also want to edit the DEFAULT characters and rosters, which can be
found as text files in the game’s folder:
Steam\steamapps\common\Wrestling Revolution 3D


The names of wrestlers or promotions may be the only intelligible things you can change from this
perspective. But you can also overwrite these files from inside the game by pressing the S key at
either the roster or character selection screen respectively. It is strongly recommended that you use
the game’s “Backup” and “Restore” functions instead of tinkering with defaults.
If you wanted to create a “Real World Patch”, for instance, you would make all of your changes,
“backup” your universe, copy the “BackupCharacters.sol” and “BackupRosters.sol” files, and have the
recipient paste these into their own saved game folder. They can then “Restore” this whenever they
wish to affect those changes.
Alternatively, you could press S at the character selection screen to create a “Characters.txt” file, then
S at the roster selection screen to create a “Rosters.txt”, and then paste these over the default files
where the game is installed and choose “Restore Defaults”.
Rosters
When you click on a company's logo, you will be taken to a grid full of the names they have on their
books. You can scroll past the first 18 by clicking and dragging the mouse. Clicking a slot ONCE will
highlight it for you to view their credentials, whereas DOUBLE clicking will proceed to select them for
whatever purpose you are there for. If you HOLD over the same slot for a moment, you will notice that
they become unplugged and can be moved over any other slot to swap places. If you drop them over
the company logo you may even be able to instantly trade them to a different brand! Notice that if you
click the logo from here you can also leave to access another roster.

eyboard Shortcuts
At the character selection screen, there are a handful of keyboard shortcuts that may help you change
the rosters:
W = Set as World Champion.
I = Set as Inter Champion.
T / Y = Set as either Tag Champion.
B = Set as booker.
1 = Copy character data.
2 = Paste character data.
C = Generate new character.
P = Test match with character.
S = Save as default characters / rosters.
Replacing Textures
Most of the game’s textures and models can be found where the game is installed:
Steam\steamapps\common\Wrestling Revolution 3D
Not only can you replace the existing files, but any correctly named additions to these folders should
also be loaded into the game at launch. They must be the exact same file type, in lower case,
numbered sequentially, etc. Any effect that requires MULTIPLE textures (such as flesh) can be
replaced but cannot yet be expanded upon as code is needed to put it all together.
Note that the game deliberately uses low resolution textures to keep loading times down and
performance up! Deviate from this formula at your own risk.

Costumes
When you access a character to edit them, you will notice that they have 3 distinct costumes - one for
wrestling, a 2nd for backstage meetings, and a 3rd for refereeing. The head and body shape must be
consistent across all 3, but everything else can be changed. This revamped editor makes a distinction
between flesh and the material above, which can be fiddly at first but is the key to getting so many
possibilities out of each costume. Best practice is to set up the materials you want first with NO flesh
and THEN add the flesh parts afterwards.
You can change the colour of any material using the sliders - although you may have to deliberately
change that body part again to remind the editor which part you want to apply colour to. This can also
be achieved by touching the specific part of the 3D model as a shortcut to that section. Notice that
holding over the model also lets you see the results from any angle.
For your convenience, changes tend to be automatically copied from top to bottom or right to left. If
you want to make asymmetrical designs (such as one elbow pad), it is best to configure the right first
and then make the left arm different, etc.
Replacing Models
It is not recommended that you edit the game’s models, as anything missing (or misnamed!) will
cause issues. But if you must try, you will need Flare 3D’s plugin to export from 3D Studio MAX as
a .zf3d file:

Additional Music
Any correctly named additions to the “music” folder should appear as possible entrance themes.
Please note that this starts from “theme46.mp3” on account of the first 45 themes being built in. Only
MP3 files are accepted at this time. Please consider keeping them short and sweet to keep loading
times low and performance high!
Alternative Versions
This installation also features a “Windowed” version that you can use by simply copying the
Game.swf file from there into the game’s main directory. Simply swap it back to the file from the
“Fullscreen” folder if you wish to go back to normal. Please note that the 3D games cannot be resized
in a window after they have been launched.
Open Does NOT Mean Open Source!
Whilst I have tried to make my work as open as possible for your enjoyment, please note that
Wrestling Revolution 3D is still an active commercial property. Any attempt to reprogram and
redistribute the game is therefore illegal and cannot be condoned by the developer or Steam.
It would also be best for the game and its community if fans resolved to always play it through Steam
so that its popularity can be accurately measured and recognized! If we can establish an audience for
this PC release then more will follow.

Community
The level of editing I seek to make possible is unfortunately incompatible with Steam’s “Workshop”
itself, so we’ll have to compromise in the early going. An exclusive forum for owners of the game

Although images cannot be posted directly to the Steam forums, it is suggested that modders upload
their textures to their “Artwork” profile. The links to these can then be shared on Steam more
effectively.
